Showers Pass 7 am Start

Description: This ride will leave the watershed and take advantage of our mixed rural county roads. You will see redwoods, oak prairies and mixed forests.

I would recommend a gravel bike or hard tail mountain bike with 42 or larger tires. There are some steep loose descents on this route.

The actual elevation is about 13-14,000 feet. The evelation on the Strava route link is way off!.

I rode the route self supported on a touring bike. It took me about 10 hours to complete it at a leisurely pace.

The route will be well marked and supported! We will have a chase vehicle with food and water. There will also be food and water available on the route at the support stations.

Diamond Grinder 10 am Start

Description: The original route for this event. If you are looking for a 100% off road experience in the redwoods, this is it! The end of the route is punctuated with two river crossings. The upper one is thigh deep and the second is ankle deep.

I would recommend a hard tail mountain bike with fast rolling tires for maximum comfort if you are not trying to shave some time on the climbing. The roads have some 20%-24% grades and can be loose or chunky. However, if you’re a capable gravel biker, go for it. My Salsa Warbird with 42’s was fine.

The elevation on the Strava route is incorrect. Expect about 3000 feet of climbing
